vol2. mangú | mashed plantains

Mangu is a traditional Dominican breakfast served with red pickled onions and tres golpes, loosely translated to three hits. The tres golpes are two fried eggs, two pieces of fried cheese, and two pieces of fried salami. Needless to say, these three hits will indeed have you out for the count after consumption. I remember eating this all the time as a kid and now as an adult, I love to indulge and make it for dinner since its so heavy. 

This dish is traditionally made with green plantains. But a variation on this dish is made with yellow (sweet) plantain for a sweet and savory breakfast, lunch or dinner.
